1 Tawarikh 5:26
Konteks5:26 So the God of Israel stirred up 1 King Pul of Assyria (that is, King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria), 2 and he carried away the Reubenites, Gadites, and half-tribe of Manasseh and took them to Halah, Habor, Hara, and the river of Gozan, where they remain to this very day.
1 Tawarikh 17:21
Konteks17:21 And who is like your people, Israel, a unique nation 3 in the earth? Their God 4 went to claim 5 a nation for himself! You made a name for yourself by doing great and awesome deeds 6 when you drove out 7 nations before your people whom you had delivered from the Egyptian empire and its gods. 8
1 Tawarikh 29:2
Konteks29:2 So I have made every effort 9 to provide what is needed for the temple of my God, including the gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, 10 as well as a large amount of onyx, settings of antimony and other stones, all kinds of precious stones, and alabaster.
[5:26] 1 tn Heb “stirred up the spirit of.”
[5:26] 2 tn Heb “and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria.” “Pul” and “Tilgath-pilneser” were names of the same Assyrian ruler, more commonly known as Tiglath-pileser (cf. 2 Kgs 15:29).
[17:21] 3 tn Heb “a nation, one.”
[17:21] 4 tn Heb “whose God,” or “because God.” In the Hebrew text this clause is subordinated to what precedes. The clauses are separated in the translation for stylistic reasons.
[17:21] 5 tn Heb “redeem” or “deliver.”
[17:21] 6 tn Heb “to make for yourself a name [with] great and awesome [deeds].”
[17:21] 7 tn Heb “to drive out.”
[17:21] 8 tn Heb “from Egypt, nations.” The parallel text in 2 Sam 7:23 reads “from Egypt, nations and its gods.”
[29:2] 9 tn Heb “and according to all my strength.”
[29:2] 10 tn Heb “the gold for the gold, and the silver for the silver, and the bronze for the bronze, and the iron for the iron, and the wood for the wood.”
